THE IDEA
A corner for the curious.
Awake was made for slow mornings, long afternoons and plans that quietly turn into staying for another coffee.
Come for breakfast. Stay for a book. Meet someone for lunch. Work for a while. Order something you've never tried before.
There isn't really a right way to spend time here. And we're in no hurry to invent one.
THE KITCHEN
A vegetarian kitchen without borders.
We cook the way curious people eat, without worrying too much about geography.
Ghoogni from Kolkata. Som Tam from Thailand. Mushroom Vindaloo from Goa. Khao Suey from Myanmar. Enchiladas, ramen, burgers, bowls and a few things that are harder to categorise.
The kitchen is vegetarian. Not because vegetables need their own special corner of the menu, but because there's more than enough you can do with them.
Some things will feel familiar. Others might make you curious. That's rather the point.
THE COFFEE
Serious coffee. No serious faces required.
We start with 100% Arabica from Chikmagalur, medium roasted for sweet berry and roasted-nut notes.
The classics are kept classic: espresso, cortado, flat white, cappuccino. Then curiosity gets involved.
Cold brew aged with oak. Espresso and tonic. Coffee with orange. Vietnamese drip. Microfoam. And yes, one involving Diet Coke called the Fridge Cigarette.
We take coffee seriously. Ourselves, considerably less so.
THE ROOM
Stay longer than you planned.
Books line the walls. Cane chairs gather around wooden tables. Quiet booths wait for laptops, conversations and people who said they were only stopping by for twenty minutes.
Read. Work. Talk. Eat. Do absolutely nothing.
The books aren't decoration. Pick one up. The chairs aren't going anywhere either.
THE LIBRARY
Some pairings don't need explaining.
Coffee and books happen to be one of them.
Our shelves hold thousands of books collected across subjects, places and years. They're here to be opened, not admired from a distance.
Choose one. Bring your own. Read ten pages. Read a hundred. Or forget about the book entirely because the conversation got interesting.
AWAKE, JAIPUR
Pull up a chair.
Come for coffee. Come hungry. Come with a book, a laptop, a friend or nobody at all.
Breakfast rolls into lunch, coffee into conversation, and occasionally an afternoon disappears altogether.
We're on the ground floor of Nidra Niwas in Jaipur, a short walk from Vivek Vihar metro. Open to everyone, not just guests of the house.
