Jaipur
A city of colour, craft, movement, and return.
Planned in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur is one of India’s first grid cities. The old Pink City wraps around Badi Chaupar, Tripolia Gate, Johari Bazaar and Chaura Rasta — its terracotta facades came from a coat of paint in 1876 for a royal visit, and the city liked the look so much it never changed back.
Must-See Sights
Most people split the classic loop into two days — one ‘fort day’, one ‘pink city day’ — and go early morning or near sunset for softer light and fewer crowds.
- Amber Fort
- Jaigarh Fort
- Nahargarh Fort
- City Palace
- Jantar Mantar
- Hawa Mahal
- Albert Hall Museum
Offbeat Jaipur
Pre-9am strolls through the bazaars with chai stops are often better than any formal tour.

Local Flavours
Search for well-reviewed spots around the old city or MI Road rather than random stalls, and try at least one proper Rajasthani thali plus one focused street-snack outing.
- Dal Baati Churma — dish
- Laal Maas — dish
- Pyaaz Kachori — snack
- Ghewar — sweet
Art & Culture
Small galleries and design stores around C-Scheme, craft workshops near Amber, and the painted doors and havelis inside the walled city turn Jaipur into an open-air art project.

- Chokhi Dhani
Day Trips Nearby
A half-day or full-day cab booked via apps or a local operator is usually the simplest way to explore.
